If you answer NO to any of the following questions, then the VeriCon Labelling Scheme is for you

  • Can you verify that you hardly ever receive problem goods and that you never have to do quality checks on behalf of your suppliers?
  • Can you confirm you never have fabric or garment problems related to measurements, performance, colour or continuity?
  • Can you buy with confidence and be assured your performance risks have been mitigated?
  • Are you sure specific performance criteria have been checked and complied with?
  • Can you readily access the test data or Certificates of Conformance in a matter of minutes?
  • Do you have ongoing records of performance for your product that anyone can access even years after the goods have been supplied?
  • Do have visible identification on your products that show your customers they can purchase with confidence – quality related labels or swing tags?

The VeriCon Labelling Scheme address all these concerns.

How does it work?

Customer completes a Verification Application Form to :

  • Supply VeriCon verified fabric
  • Supply VeriCon garments/shoes or other specified items

VeriCon Consignment Inspection

  • Supplier is audited in terms of BCR (Business Capability Report) and verification in terms of quality of products supplied. (Can they consistently make the same product to the same performance requirements?)
  • Product list or selected items are identified and specification that the garments/shoes/items need to comply with is agreed. Can be a SA National Specification or Private Specification or Customer Specific Requirements.
  • Approved products from Approved Suppliers will be tested for compliance and if approved, will be loaded on the VeriCon website.
  • The supplier is then approved for the specific products list that was signed off.
  • The supplier notifies Defcon regarding all new production runs for these products and supply a sample for evaluation at the start of production. This is so that Defcon can do pre-production evaluation and produce a COC or Approval certificate that can be uploaded (Like the Lot Acceptance Certificate)
  • Customer receives mail informing them process is complete with link to webpage.
  • Customer receives swing tags to attach to items and can attach the swing tags as they produce.
  • All costs are in line with consignment inspection charges + Swing tag costs based on volume.
  • Defcon Auditors will do continuous checks during production runs to verify that all products under the labelling scheme continuously meet all the preselected criteria.
  • Any item with a VeriCon swing tag and QR Code can be scanned with a cell phone that has a QR App Reader. The QR Code is linked to the COC and the Certificate will immediately display on the screen. Alternately, there is a specific ID code below the QR. Entering the code on the VeriCon access page will result in the COC being downloaded. It can then be printed or saved as required.
  • There is a facility on the VeriCon page to load queries, compliant or information the reader wishes to communicate to the Defcon Team. Response to queries are within 24hrs on work days.

VeriCon approved products are identified with a swing tag

Labelling with Swing tags is specific to Production Lots and all Certificates of Conformance are linked to such Swing Tags.

The Defcon Protec VeriCon Quality Scheme, is a cloud base independent verification and quality certification scheme for textile fabrics, garments, footwear or any other items where is a performance based specification is in place.

The VeriCon Scheme is not a Mark Scheme, it is a Product Qualification Labelling Scheme based on product performance. Every item or product that complies with the specified criteria receives a stamp of approval in the form of a swing tag. The test data (Certificate of Conformance) that backs up the Label, is cloud based and accessed by simply scanning the QR Code on the Label.

The Verify Conformance Scheme (VeriCon) has a series of locks as its symbol on the swing tag labels

The VeriCon LOCKS signify:

• Confidence
• Continuity
• Conformance
• Risk Mitigation
• Customer Satisfaction
• Ongoing Compliance with selected criteria

Green lock declares that the product contains imported content.
